Peshtigo, Wisconsin - April 4, 2006 - We are excited to announce that we have changed our name from Great Lakes Carbide Tool, Mfg. to Great Lakes Custom Tool, Mfg., Inc., to better reflect the products and services we offer. The name Great Lakes Carbide Tool Mfg., Inc. has served us well since 1979 as carbide tooling has been the core of our business. However, the word “carbide” implies that we only manufacture carbide tools, when, in fact, we also manufacture and service all common cutting tool materials. 

As a leader in our industry we have continued to expand our tooling capabilities with innovative products like the Great-Loc® insert system and the new patent pending Helicarb® tooling. Our goal has always been to provide customers with the best quality tooling specific to their industry applications:  Brazed, high speed steel, solid carbide or PCD (diamond) tooling.

The custom care taken by our highly trained and dedicated employees are what sets us apart from the competition. They take the same pride in sharpening as they do in manufacturing process, leaving no detail undone. Our custom tooling also includes servicing and reworking the most challenging tooling used today.

The new name reflects the changes and innovations that have been made to better service our customers growing tooling needs. Great Lakes Custom Tool, Mfg. looks forward to building upon the 28 year tradition of manufacturing and distributing the finest cutting tools for the woodworking and metalworking industries.

As a leader in carbide blade technology Great Lakes Custom Tool Mfg., Inc. has been manufacturing custom cutting tools for the woodworking and non-ferrous industries for over 28 years.  Honoring that committment to its customers, Great Lakes Custom Tool has acquired the exclusive rights from Sonnet Tool to manufacture Helicarb tooling and further expand its product line.
